The Rascal Youth single shot bolt action rifle from Savage Arms is the example for what a first firearm for a young shooter should be. It has the flexibility to shoot a range of .22 caliber loads to include short, long, and long rifle. It is a single shot rifle that makes the begging shooter focus on the shooting fundamentals of trigger control, breathing, bone support, and muscle relaxation to making them see and feel their success when hitting the bull's eye. That trigger control is aided on the Rascal thanks to Savage's AccuTrigger that is also incredibly safe. The AccuTrigger is easily adjustable to fit the shooter, and even at its lightest setting is safe even when jarred or dropped. This is in large part dues to the integrated AccuRelease that must be fully depressed before the rifle can fire.
